Reflection on My First Job
Starting my first job felt both exciting and a little overwhelming. Even though it is non-paid, I quickly realized that every task, from building a website to updating content and attracting traffic, mattered. Each small action I took had a visible impact, and I began to see how my work connects not just to the website, but to the people who use it and the lessons I am learning for myself.
Working on this website has also been helping me with my own website. I am learning how design choices, content, and timing can influence how people interact with a site. It has made me more thoughtful about how to present my artwork, music, and writing in ways that others can easily explore and enjoy. More than that, it has shown me that there is so much to learn about how art and design can extend into other fields. Whether it is creating a website, helping someone understand an insurance claim, or observing the way information is shared, design has the power to shape experiences and solve real problems.
In addition, I have learned about public adjusting and how it can affect people’s lives. Observing how adjusters help people receive what they are owed from insurance companies made me realize how important understanding rules, processes, and fairness is. It reminded me that even behind something as ordinary as paperwork or a website update, there are real people whose experiences and outcomes are affected by your work.
This job as an office assistant has taught me that learning is not just about skills on paper. It is about observing, making connections, and noticing how the things you do can influence other people and projects. I am grateful for this experience because it is teaching me responsibility, patience, and awareness. It is also revealing the incredible potential of combining art, design, and thoughtful problem solving across many different areas.
